The intent of this book is to analyze the structural styles that we explore for oil and gas in terms of mechanics of deformation, profile and plan expression-both surface and subsurface, seismic expression, producing examples, and plate tectonic processes and habitats. In this attempt the book differs from other structural geology texts and is directed specifically to the petroleum explorationist. The various chapters represent the conversion of sections of a manual used in teaching courses in structural geology on a worldwide basis since 1976 for oil and gas consultants international, Inc. The reader will appreciate that the literature of structural geology is voluminous; examples were chosen which seemed best suited to illustratr the structural styles concept.
